Dr. Mahima Weerasinghe is a Senior Lecturer (HG) at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computing, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. He was a former Head of the Department of Data Science at Sri Lanka Technological Campus.

He is also the head of research at BrAIN Labs,  an independent research group specializing in developing Brain-Inspired AI algorithms and conducting research on Neuroinformatic. He has published work in journals such as Nature Scientific Reports, IEEE Access and APA Psychology and Neuroscience. Apart from his research and academic interests, he enjoys work related to music, agriculture and consciousness.
